Administrative Framework of the Souss-Massa Region

Souss-Massa (in Amazigh: ⵙⵓⵙ–ⵎⴰⵙⵙⴰ, in Arabic سوس ماسة) is one of the twelve Regions of Morocco (new regional division – decree n°40.15.2 of February 20, 2015). It includes the Prefectures of Agadir Ida Outanane and Inzegane Ait Melloul, as well as the Provinces of Taroudant, Chtouka Ait Baha, Tiznit and Tata.

The regional council is made up of members with a deliberative voice who have been elected through an electoral system; and members with an advisory voice who are composed of members of parliament from the region, presidents of professional chambers and a member appointed by each of the unions represented in the House of Councilors.

The Region is divided into several Provinces or Prefectures. They are local authorities under public law with legal personality and financial autonomy. Each province is made up of several urban or rural communes.
